Trip Overview

DELUXE OVERLAND TOUR VIA KYRUNG – APPLICABLE FOR
FOREIGN NATIONALS WITH VISA APPLICATION IN KATHMANDU

The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra with Khushi Travels & Consulting Group is a sacred and transformative journey that blends spirituality, cultural exploration, and breathtaking Himalayan landscapes. Beginning in Kathmandu, pilgrims are welcomed with warm hospitality and guided through Nepal’s most revered temples such as Pashupatinath, Boudhanilkantha, Boudhanath, and Swoyambhunath, while also experiencing UNESCO heritage sites before embarking on the overland journey to Tibet.

From Kathmandu, the route passes through Timure and crosses into Tibet at Kyrung, gradually ascending to higher altitudes with proper acclimatization in places like Saga and Paryang. The journey reaches its spiritual heart at the sacred Lake Mansarovar, where pilgrims perform holy rituals including bath, Puja, Hawan, and Devtarpan along the serene waters of the lake. This sacred experience is followed by travel to Darchen, the base camp for the ultimate highlight of the Yatra — the Mount Kailash Kora (Parikrama).

Over three days, pilgrims trek through one of the world’s most spiritually significant trails, crossing the challenging Dolma La Pass (5,585 m) and witnessing awe-inspiring views of Mount Kailash, a peak revered across Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Bon religions. Each day of the Kora brings a deep sense of devotion and fulfillment, from Dirapuk to Zuthulpuk, and finally completing the Parikrama near Darchen.

After the Parikrama, the return journey retraces through Saga and Kyrung, before crossing back into Nepal and returning to Kathmandu. The Yatra concludes with a special Pashupatinath Puja, certificate distribution, farewell dinner, and cultural program, leaving participants with not only spiritual enrichment but also cherished memories of cultural discovery and natural beauty.

This 15-day program is carefully designed to ensure safe acclimatization, cultural immersion, and spiritual fulfillment, making it one of the most meaningful pilgrimages of a lifetime.

Gear List / Packing Guide

🧥 Clothing

Pack essential layers including thermal base layers (top and bottom), quick-dry trekking shirts (both long and short sleeve), a fleece jacket or pullover, an insulated down jacket for higher altitudes, and a waterproof/windproof shell jacket. Bring trekking pants (lightweight plus a warmer pair), waterproof trousers, and sports underwear. Don’t forget a warm hat or beanie, a sun hat or cap, a neck gaiter or buff, and gloves (inner liners with insulated waterproof outers).

🥾 Footwear

Wear sturdy, broken-in trekking boots, and carry comfortable camp shoes or sandals for evenings. Bring 4–5 pairs of wool or synthetic trekking socks, along with optional sock liners to help prevent blisters.

🎒 Bags

You’ll need a large backpack or duffel bag (usually carried by a porter), a 25–35L daypack for daily essentials, and a rain cover to protect your gear.

🛏️ Sleeping & Trekking Gear

Carry a sleeping bag rated to -15°C (rentals available), trekking poles (highly recommended), and a headlamp with extra batteries. Sunglasses with strong UV protection, water bottles or a hydration bladder, and purification tablets or a filter are also essential.

🧴 Personal Items

Protect yourself with SPF 50+ sunscreen and SPF lip balm. Bring personal toiletries such as a toothbrush, wet wipes, and a small towel, along with a quick-dry travel towel. Hand sanitizer, tissues, and moisturizer (to combat dry air at altitude) are also important.

💊 Health & Safety

Pack your prescribed medications along with a basic first aid kit. Consider Diamox for altitude sickness (only after consulting a doctor). Include band-aids, blister plasters, painkillers, antiseptic, and rehydration salts. Don’t forget travel insurance that covers high-altitude trekking and emergency rescue.

📸 Optional Items

You might want to bring a camera or GoPro with extra batteries or a power bank, a lightweight book or journal, snacks such as energy bars and nuts, and earplugs for noisy tea houses.

📄 Documents

Keep your valid passport with Nepal visa, trek permits (such as TIMS and Sagarmatha National Park permits, arranged by Khushi Travels), insurance details, emergency contacts, and copies of all important documents.

✅ Pro Tip: Pack in layers so you can adjust clothing as temperatures change. Keep your backpack light—porters typically have weight limits of 10–12kg per trekker.
